recent events

Throughout the year, we work with local partners to host events which raise the awareness of why the early years of a child are so important. Please check back for details on our upcoming events in support of children and families in our communities.

Sooke Family Resource Society (SFRS) Prenatal Education and Outreach Services

Every pregnancy has a unique and profound impact on women and their families.  Support at this important time can have positive short and long-term benefits.

The SFRS Prenatal Education and Outreach Services provides local group or individual prenatal education, support, and outreach to pregnant women and their families in Sooke and the surrounding areas. This service works to ensure that all who need or want prenatal services can access low to no-cost programming.  All pregnant women may find benefit from the support of these services and resources.  The overall goal of this program is to provide services to enhance the health of families in our community.

The SFRS Prenatal Education and Outreach Services is a member of the BC Association of Pregnancy Outreach Programs.  Funding for this service is supported by the Success by Six and United Way of Greater Victoria.

The “Images of Learning” project makes visible the competencies of children and the work of early childhood educators.  The exhibit includes  a series of life-size freestanding panels designed to call attention to the child as a protagonist in their own learning, capable of expressing themselves in a myriad of ways. The exhibit uses photos, dialogue, and reflections, to celebrate the stories of learning.

SUCCESS BY 6 IS PROUD TO BE A PART OF THE VICTORIA COMMUNITY FUNDERS NETWORK
The VCFN is comprised of five leading local agencies and foundation, two businesses and a community foundation that provide individual funding to community groups. Success By 6 is proud to be one of the organizations involved that help charitable organizations find the resources they require to carry out the worthwhile work done in the Greater Victoria area.

A Celebration of Caring and Sharing.

Through the VCFN Success By 6, along with the other seven organizations, (Coast Capital Savings, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Telus Community Board, Vancity, United Way of Greater Victoria, and Queen Alexandra Foundation For Children) are collaborating to simplify the process of non-profit groups to seek funding. In 2010, the VCFN members will come together to streamline both the application process and the funding impact report requirements. We’re here to help!
